Make a Hat and Make a Difference

(ContentDesk) September 11, 2005 -- Craft Gym announced it will host its next charitable crafting "Make & Donate Chemo Caps" event on Wednesday, September 28, from 6:30pm until 9:30pm. (Please note: participants are free to come and go throughout the event.)
The company has also begun accepting fall donations of handmade hats to benefit cancer patients undergoing treatment in San Francisco.
Knitters, crocheters, and stitchers of all skill levels are invited to attend the event. Volunteers who don't know how to sew, knit, or crochet will be able to embellish pre-made hats.
For those looking for a little inspiration or direction, Craft Gym workshop instructors will be on hand to assist with easy step-by-step instructions.

All hats made during the September 28th event will be given to the adult and children's oncology units at UCSF's Comprehensive Cancer Center.After the September 28th event, Craft Gym will continue to accept and donate handcrafted caps on an ongoing basis. The company has also scheduled another Chemo Cap making event in early December. If you ask me exactly how it happened, I couldn't tell you, but somewhere during our annual reunion meeting, I was entrusted with the task of researching then ordering a variety of custom caps and embroidered hats for the next international family reunion. Now some of you may think that this would be an honor. Some of you may be thinking what's the big deal, but let me tell you the scope of the ordeal that I had just thrown in my lap?

Now lucky for me I am somewhat Internet savvy and that I had a fair chunk of time before the reunion.
